Review: Ital Vital Restaurant – Vegan West Indian Food

Restaurant Location: 741 Pharmacy Ave, Scarborough, ON M1L 3J4

I was not in the mood for a meaty meal that night, and even though I lived in Scarborough for most of my life, I never came across this restaurant. Do you guys remember the saying, curiosity killed the cat – well- curiosity tends to make me eat more food. Curious me decided to visit the restaurant as soon as possible. The selection was super simple; you get two choices – small combo or large combo (I went for the large). It was around $13 dollars and the container was filled to the brim. Mind I say that everything it serves is vegan!! The food is fresh and has a West Indian flare.

The place is quite small with no fancy decor, it’s a small restaurant – most people get the food to go and simply eat at home. The place is quite small with a few seats so I don’t recommend eating there if you are particularly picky about your environment.

This place is definitely worth a visit when you are in the mood for a filling, good-feeling type of meal. Needless to say, I would definitely come here again!

Review: Tsujiri Toronto – Japanese Dessert

Restaurant Location: 147 Dundas St. W, Toronto, ON M5G 1P5

The weather is getting colder now in Toronto. It’s not a bad thing since the line ups were crazy at Tsujiri during the summer time. In hopes of getting a taste of good matcha ice cream, I decided to go later in the day to avoid the line up. What can I say, I should totally pat myself on the back for making such a brilliant decision.

Tsujiri is not a long walk from the Eaton Centre nor the Tetsu Cheesecake shop. I usually pick up a cheese cake at Tetsu for $10 since the cake is a bit addicting. Anyways, back to my experience at Tsujiri – the ice cream hands down was delicious! I ended up trying one of the sundaes  (which was a bit expensive at $7) and a matcha cream puff (at $3). It is definitely a bit pricey for the food you get but it’s well made and taste oh so good. Also, the restaurant is quite small, not too many seats!

The sundae had red bean with balls of mochi added to it. It was surprisingly a tasty combination. I ended up eyeing the chocolate roll near the counter while I was devouring my sundae. It didn’t take me too long to eat the chocolate roll as well.

Overall, I would come here for a treat after dinner. It was superb!

Review: Kara Mia Restaurant – Canadian Food

Restaurant Location: 7690 Markham Rd, Markham, ON L3S 3K1

Since I am always down to try new restaurants, I decided to try Kara Mia. The weather was a bit gloomy and I wanted some hearty, creamy (get me fat) type of food. The best thing about the restaurant was that it was fairly new and it was halal – so you can totally bring your friends that can only eat halal meat. In addition, the restaurant was clean and had pretty décor which is always a plus!

After I browsed the menu, I decided to order the Fettuccine Kara Mia. It has diced chicken breast sautéed with sun-dried tomatoes, spinach and fettuccine pasta in Alfredo sauce topped with feta cheese. It was delish! It was a bit too creamy towards the end but I broke up the thickness by having some of their saffron poutine. The service was a bit slow but I didn’t mind it all too much. Overall, I would go to this restaurant for a meal to fill the tummy. Nothing out of the extraordinary.

Review: Chef Lin Restaurant – Chinese Food

Restaurant Location: 8 Washington St, Markham, ON L3P 2R2

I recently was browsing Yelp and found a place I’ve never tried, with astounding reviews so I decided to check it out. Since I was going to be in the Markham area that day, I decided to drop by for dinner. I was not in a good mood that particular day, so I was depending on the food at the restaurant to cheer me up. When we arrived at Chef Lin’s, my first impression was great! It was a small, quaint restaurant that’s family owned. I don’t know why but my mood got better after I got to the restaurant. Maybe I was just hungry (this happens very often).

We ordered a lot of food, but I was most impressed with the beef noodle soup. When I say impressed, I mean it tasted like home!

We also ordered the General Tao’s chicken which was pretty good too, but REALLY, let’s go back to talking about the beef noodle soup.

I can hands down say that the beef noodle soup here is the best. It tastes very similar to Mr. Lee noodles in China. The broth is so flavorful, it taste like overall, awesomeness. Go try it for yourself and let me know if it’s awesome too!

Review: Kandahar Kabab – Afghan Food

Restaurant Location: 2307 Markham Rd, Scarborough, ON M1B 2W3

It was super sunny and humid like it has been this entire summer. It wasn’t the heat that made me hungry, it was catching Pokemons in the humid weather. I use to judge people that downloaded the app, but guess what? I am one of them now. Muhahahaha. But, back to the topic where I was starting to feel hungry (aren’t I always?). Well, I stumbled (actually searched on Yelp) that there was a place nearby (Kandahar Kabab) and the pictures enticed me. The Kandahar restaurant had high ceilings and a non-traditional restaurant set-up. You simply order your food at the counter and find a seat yourself, but the seating area is arranged like it is at a restaurant. I really enjoy this combination because it takes all the fuss out of going to a traditional restaurant. After studying the Kandahar Kabab’s restaurant menu, I ended up ordering Veggie Mantoo (which I never had before) and Sultani Kabab. This is a great place to bring your friends since the meat they use is halal.

The first thing I noticed was the huge portions that the restaurant had provided. It could be easily shared by two people. The halal meat was super tender and I know this because I just kept shoving them in my mouth.

I also had the pleasure of trying out afghan mantoo! I found the shape and the name so interesting because it was so similar to Chinese dumplings and Korean mandu. Overall, I had a delicious meal and would recommend this place to try!
